An introduction from Lorane Kinney, CEO of Avantas

In 1998 I was given the amazing opportunity to develop a work-force plan that would solve the staffing shortages plaguing a nine-hospital organization in Omaha, Nebraska. These strategies were so successful they became the foundation of our company when it launched as Avantas, LLC in 2002.

Today, our passion for solving the mission-critical issues of staffing that impact patient care is the underpinning for all that we do. Our talented team of innovators and strategists refine and embed Avantas Work Strategies into the most advanced, sound methodologies for Managing People Resources available to the health industry, delivered via three distinct, yet interlocking solutions:

Our longevity in healthcare staffing gives us a unique perspective to the challenges facing hospital organizations.  We know and understand the chaos that often surrounds staffing but we’ve proven it doesn’t have to continue.  Our powerful set of solutions cures those challenges and creates a balance between high quality patient care and the financial goals of your organization. 

We continually refine and improve our strategies, practices and technologies to assure they support our mission and are relevant to today’s business conditions.  I personally promise that, when you choose to work with Avantas, you’ll have a partner committed to Continuous Quality Improvement.  Despite our constant improvement efforts, our beliefs in certain concepts are unwavering and remain the foundation of all Avantas Products and Services    I’d like to share them with you:

  • We will consistently support the principle of getting the right person to the right place, at the right time AND at the right cost.  As often as possible, the right person is a member of your organization’s core staff, a full or part-time employee. 
  • We have proven the gap between the need for staff and the available supply is predictable.  Staffing shortages can and should be remedied in advance by applying sound business practices.
  • Avantas’ Work Strategies lift the management of resources to its highest level of efficiency while facilitating the individual quality and business goals of health organizations.
  • Staffing processes are the single biggest disrupter to patient care in hospitals today. Nursing leaders report using an average of 60% of their time on staffing. This does NOT have to continue.
  • On average, staffing consumes two thirds of an organization’s budget and is consistently named by hospital CEOs as their number-one worry.  Given this and other big issues facing our economy and healthcare in the coming years, there is simply no time to waste. Resource Management MUST be recognized as a strategic, enterprise-wide initiative. NOW!!
